The Leader of the Nationalist Party of the Opposition Adrian Delia said the findings of the rule of law delegation report must be addressed without further delay following a debate that took place in the European Parliament today.

MEPs lambasted the Maltese government for failing to take action against Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri. A number of MEPs heavily criticised the fact that Pilatus Bank and Nexia BT continued to hold licences to provide services in the European Union.

Dr Adrian Delia stated:

“It is unfortunate that it has come to this. Action should have been taken against those caught red-handed long ago. The longer the Prime Minister’s inaction persists the more damage is being done. It is evident that the explanations being given by the Prime Minister are far from credible and only serve to increase suspicion.

The Maltese people are not alone. Today all political groups in the European Parliament showed that they are ready to stand with Malta and against corruption.

David Casa, Roberta Metsola and Francis Zammit Dimech are doing their duty. They are working for Malta and for all Maltese and Gozitans.

We must never be complacent in our fight against corruption.
