commentHi Natalie, thanks for sharing your concerns on this website. I invite you to read the proposals we made last May where we proposed free contraception including the morning-after pill. I would appreciate your feedback on this. Regarding abortion, PN is strongly pro-life so this is a very difficult issue for us. However, I am keen to learn more about the stories you are hearing to see what else we can do to better safeguard the health of these women.

commentThanks Alexander. This is a pressing matter. It’s great that we now have more micro-mobility options like scooters, but our infrastructure has not taken this into consideration, and safety has not been prioritised. I agree that we need a radically rethink in how we move and how we can create safer paths for cyclists, scooters and pedestrians. Our policies cannot be all car-centric.

commentThanks Isabel. Your suggestion is much appreciated. Sexual health is something that has not been taken seriously by this government, both in terms of education and in terms of the actual service offering. All too often, appointments at the GU clinic are given too late or even postponed due to lack of resources. The government has long promised GU services in regional health centres but these too have failed to materialise. And this is one of the many sectors that needs a curriculum update in our education system. A Nationalist government would involved the necessary experts and stakeholders in this process.

commentMy door is open if you would like to hold a meeting to discuss the issue in more detail, keeping in mind that PN has taken a strongly pro-life position as a party.

commentBernard Grech commented on Free contraception and more access to sexual health clinics 2021-09-17 16:56:57 +0200Hi Victoria, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I too am concerned by the lack of resources at the GU Clinic. I cannot understand why there are such delays. I think we should also be in a position to increase resources when we have a particular outbreak as happens from time to time. It is in all of our interests to provide an efficient response to sexually transmitted disease. Regarding contraception, I would appreciate your feedback on the proposals we launched last May: https://lovinmalta.com/news/pn-leader-proposes-free-contraception-and-morning-after-pill-to-reduce-demand-for-abortion/

commentBernard Grech commented on Electoral reform and party financing before anything else 2021-09-17 16:56:01 +0200Thanks for all your suggestions. Many of them are either being discussed or have already been taken up by the Nationalist Party, such as the idea to buy back (at market prices) land that needs to be safeguarded as green lungs. I also believe MPs need to have the option of going full-time. We will continue discussing many of the issues you have suggested.

commentThanks Anthony. This is especially important when cost-of-living is increasing at such alarming rates. We need to find ways of helping industry and businesses to invest more in their workers. This is high on our agenda.

commentThanks Jesmond. Excellent poetry.

commentErik, thanks for your contribution. I agree that we need a serious and holistic plan that tackles the way we move in Malta: parking is a major factor. On the one hand, people need to have adequate parking so we don’t spend hours adding to congestion looking for somewhere to park. On the other hand, car use will only decrease if parking is more scarce or more expensive. On this issue, more than any other issue, we all need to find ways of being part of the change. However, we must continue to look for balanced solutions. My hope is that we can incentivise other forms of transport so that car use decreases in popularity. We will continue working on our holistic vision for this sector and your ideas will be taken into consideration.
