I have documents of suggestions to make Malta a better place for citizens and visitors alike which will involve reforms in the way we handle sustainability, transparency and good governance. Some are easy and some are hard but the most important thing, in my opinion, is regulating the incessant destruction of our island in the name of “progress” and “investment”. We are not investing or progressing as a country in the long term, only in the short term or “till the tip of our noses” as the expression goes. I am very disappointed that the 2006 local plans are not on the agenda for some sort of revision by this party as that will be a huge push to ensuring we move towards a more sustainable Maltese islands! There is room for development and sustainability – they can work hand in hand if we set up local plans that work to serve both and create new opportunities, jobs and investments in the process.
