  • Local councils

Local councils currently have little to no control over what happens in their town. What if they were given the final say. If the government wants to implement something that the town does not agree with, then it would be the government who has to convince them and to repackage the idea to ensure the town will benefit in other ways - extra budget, more community projects, etc.

  • Free Access to the Coast

  • No more abandoned and empty buildings

Since Malta is small we cannot afford to have empty dwellings and continue building on new land. Each person should only be allowed to have one empty dwelling apart from his normal residence (this will allow for villeġġjatura). Extra dwellings are taxed annually if left empty more than 1 year. This will incentive owners to sell or rent out their dwellings, have more availability on the market and push down the rent and property prices.

  • City centre green areas for public

Identify big gardens in city centres and schedule them like buildings that means they cannot be demolished or built in! Identify such gardens which are often abandoned, reach an agreement with the owners to rent them out, restore them and open them to the public. Owners can be given permit to open kiosks and restaurants in such gardens to incentive them to reach agreement with gov.

  • Environment & Agriculture

When talking re environment & greenhouse effect, we tend to point our fingers to cars and other industries ... true, but we cannot ignore that agriculture is also harming the environment! Farmers should be encouraged via incentives to switch to organic farming and hence reduce use of pesticides and other chemicals that contaminate soil & water. Also, when possible, farmers should be given the opportunity to invest in aquaponics & vertical systems to grow crops.. these systems can be operated from urban / industrial areas. Aquaponics use 90% less water then traditional farming... no chemicals or pesticides.. land which was previously used for agriculture can be planted with trees such as olives ... hence aid reforestation.

  • Marine Current Energy Conversion

Living on an island surrounded by large volumes of sea water, I believe that we can explore whether the possibility of under water currents which run around our islands can be a source of energy. We know that marine currents can carry large amounts of energy and this can easily occur in straits between islands and the mainland. It is not believed that marine energy technologies will replace gas or petroleum but could become an asset in producing clean energy. I am confident that we can identify sites around our islands which generate potential underwater currents. There are a number of papers published on this subject: https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rsta.2012.0500 https://pmiind.com/marine-energy-conversion/

  • Animal shelters and NGOs working in the field of animal welfare

These organizations can be helped by free veterinary services, vat exemptions on food and medications, sibsidized utility bills.

  • Safeguard our nature

My concern is that some virgin land is under threat by their owners themselves. Evidently and understandably most of these owners are trying to find all sorts of loopholes to somehow build or develop whatever they manage to get a permit on. Example: The solar farms on garigue land, why doesn't the government buy this land from the private sector and set rules and patrol officers to protect these areas? We're loosing so much natural land it's becoming depressing!! This land pictured for instance is under threat as there has been an application for a massive solar farm of 43000m² ! Just have a look at PA0531320

  • Invest In Maltese Startups

Pump much more money into Maltese startups to help them gain valuable resources, to build their brand in Malta and most importantly beyond. We have some amazing entrepreneurs that achieve great things with little to no resources at the start, and this would be a great way to export Maltese made products/services.

  • Increase Teachers' Salaries

Teachers salaries need to increase drastically and performance bonuses should be given to teachers who deserve them based on some criteria decided upon. Teachers should be considered one of the most valuable occupations of our society as they have a massive role in shaping our future.

  • Remove Garbage Bags From The Streets

Large concealed garbage and recycling skips in residential areas to remove garbage and recycling bags from pavements and roads, this would also reduce traffic as trucks would no longer need to drive slow a whole street. Best if implemented town by town, and learn from early mistakes.

  • Cab Vouchers For People Who Scrap Their Car

Cab vouchers per year and electric bike one time voucher for people who scrap their car and not own any other car, except weekend only cars (also maybe car sharing vouchers).

  • Underground Car Parks With Open Spaces Above

Open spaces with underground car parks, and deduct car spaces gained from roads, to add bike lanes in strategic locations within a town, example a ring road around the centre of a town.

  • Fuq il penzjoni tal pulizija

Nahseb wasal iz zmien li l pulizija ma jibqawx jigu diskriminati fejn il-penzjoni tahom ma toghliex ma l gholi tal hajja. Ikun passa fhaqli ukoll ghax il pulizija nesew x ghamel mahom il Pn . Kull ma jiftakru z zidiet u l arretrati li ta l labour. Barra li din hija diskriminatorja li ma toghliex , it-tieni hafna pulizija zgur li tattirom ghax hi ingustizzja. Kuragg u grazzi hafna.

  • Primary education

Project Based Teaching & Learning in the Primary In spite of the numerous innovations introduced in the recent past, education in the primary years still seems to be stuck in traditional approaches to teaching and learning: teachers pass on information to the students in a structured and segmented fashion. More often than not, children find this information irrelevant and thus motivation and interest, key to learning, are lost. A project-based approach to teaching and learning shifts the focus from the teacher to the student, making the latter pursuers of knowledge rather mere receptors. The idea behind taking a Project based approach is simple: rather than learn English, Maltese, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art, Drama, Music, PE and Religion, children would learn all the above through the exploration of a theme. Ideally the themes would be explored throughout the years (from year 3 to year 6, assuming that in the Early Years the Emergent Curriculum is practiced). For instance: one project theme could be The Sea. A project could take 4 to 6 weeks to complete. It would include some of the Learning Outcomes for every year group. So the idea is that as the children go from one year to the next, they would delve into a theme in greater detail. This would give rise to the need for a team of educators whose job would be to create these Projects, with the Learning Outcomes clearly identified for every project, together with the resources needed. However, it would be advisable to allow the students and teachers themselves to come up with more ideas on how to explore the theme further. Early Intervention Many children complete their primary education with very poor literacy and numeracy skills. These children can be identified very early on. Unfortunately the present classroom set up does not allow the class teacher to provide the intervention needed. The Reading Recovery program seems to be very successful. Perhaps one could consider providing this service to children who are struggling accademically even further. I would suggest that children who are struggling with the mainstream curriculum are grouped together and given the intervention they need (similar to that provided in the reading recovery sessions). This might be unpopular with the academics (UMI in particular) as they might argue that one would be creating socially discriminatory contexts. However, ask any teacher and they will tell you that that is the only hope these children have of actually improving their literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Our Heritage

The government should give more education to our heritage. Cultural tours should be reintroduced on Sundays. These will educate us more to learn and preserve them. Free open days will also help. Also I suggest the rebuild of the old Opera House to it's original state. This will help to revive the City.

  • Air Malta

Rebuild Air Malta from the very bottom, Reduce or remove routes that are not sustainable and create new routes, also Air Malta should provide training to Maltese youths who are interested in becoming professional airline pilots and when they finish their training, they start working at Air Malta and the training expenses will be deducted from their wage on a certain period of time, this system has been in practice within other airlines across the globe for several years and it's sustainable.

  • Pink Tax

I fully agree with implementation of distributing oral contraceptives and MAP to women under 25 years. Still sexual education should be given more importance in schools. OCPs prevent pregnancy but do not prevent STDs or cervical cancer. I would also suggest that pink tax, which includes taxes on OCPs, sanitary products like pads and tampons and other female only products carry a tax which discriminates with the male counterpart. That would really make Malta stand out in gender equality. Thanks for your consideration

  • Green Infrastractur and Mobility

make plan for maltas and gozo transportation system this should be a priority for our next government. A metro should be a priority we need a government with a vision and big promise this could be pns next big promise if we truly want to be considered a modern metropolitan european city we need a proper and functioning trnasport system. A metro system would then allow us to pedestrianise the main pjazzi and roads withing the village cores and widening pavements for planters rather than narrowing them for parking spaces so walking small distances can be barely even in august! i believe that once the public has a proper alternative buying a car wouldnt be the only option.. once a system is properly implemented increase drivig license age and meter parking space in areas like sliema valletta st julians which are prone to alot of comutes.
